XBox 360 Shortages seem to be real...

I had planned to go to a midnight store opening and purchase a machine this evening, but both stores I could find were already sold out (though they wouldn't explain how they sold out of an item that can't sell yet, since they weren't taking pre-orders).  I then spoke to CompUSA and was told that it is first come-first serve, but they were only selling it as a kit that included extra controllers, 2 games and their extended service plan (at $699).  Bah, another reason to hate CompUSA.

If I find one tomorrow, i'll blog about it...but its looking scary.

Comments:

I gave up also, was gonna try to hit up some stores at midnight for the $399 set, but it sounds impossible. oh well guess I'll wait a week or two.

I think I am out to not have one this year. They are sold out everywhere. My local Target was given 4 units! Four! North America really got spanked with their decision to launch in Europe in a week and in Japan in two. Not enough units here in the US. Hopefully by the time I can get a unit, Sony won't lure me away with the PS3...

I suspect that we will see a lot more units show up between now and Christmas, but perhaps that's just wishful thinking.

I too went to Best Buy, called Target and then gave up.. People were camped out at Best Buy start at 9:30 PM Monday evening. They handed out tickets Tuesday morning at around 7:30 AM from what I understand. I did not show up until around 8:45 AM so I of course did not get one of the 42 Xbox 360s they had.

Amazon is selling them for 1k (its a bundle) but its not clear whether or not the have any in stock... I guess I will just wait and perhaps pick up Call of Duty 2 for the PC...
