Apple Dropping PowerPC Chips...price war with WinTel PC's?

With Apple moving to Intel chips, is a price war with Dell, HP and Toshiba far away?  I'd love to get OS X in virtual machine to play around a bit. This might even make Mono more compelling.  This might change everything...or nothing...

Mono, I think, is the answer to Microsoft's making C# a "standard" language. In my opinion (as a more Unix than Windows career person) Microsoft has invented the best platform yet, in .NET. Mono tries to spread the news to the Unix/Linux/OpenSource community, but "political correctness" of a sort rises up in opposition to Mono.

Change happens slowly.. But clearly, Apple is deciding that the cost of more expensive chips will limit their future success.
